Abused Women, Men and Their Families

There are thousands of people battered every day and many women and children are killed in this situation. Also, there are some men who are battered verbally and physically, but they are too embarrassed to get help.

When you are in an abusive situation, sometimes you can not think correctly and it is hard to know what to do, but there is an answer:

• If possible, let someone know what is happening or call the police.
• Pray wherever you are: “Lord I love you and you are my Savior, please protect me and give me the strength to get through this situation.” If you are in a heated situation and can not remember a prayer say “PLEASE  HELP ME GOD!”.
• Get help through an agency, they will have trained Counselors who can help you. Some agencies will protect you with secret housing, and work with you until you have the confidence to help yourself. Also, the agency will offer counseling sessions, which is a safe environment to share your story. Sharing your story helps you and others. People of all races and social status attend these counseling sessions.
• Seek Spiritual Counseling from a bible teaching church. These Counselors are there to pray with you and offer some of the same opportunities as other Agencies.
• God will help you, but you must take the first step to freeing yourself of an abusive relationship. Start believing in yourself and by doing this, your inner strength will become stronger and your self-confidence will increase.
• Make a choice to know that you are a "Great Person" who won't be abused any more. Some people stay in a violent situation too long and they become depressed and feel worthless, and some are killed or are in prison themselves for killing their Abuser.

Agencies, Ministers, Counselors, Friends and Family members can help you with your situation, but it is up to you to walk away from a violent situation and make a new positive life for you and your children.

God made all of us beautiful and talented, he would not want us in a violent situation or relationship.
